Here is some information on the members of one of Glasgow and Scotland's most sought after wedding and function bands.

IMG_5183Mairead McBride -   Having played piano from an early age Mairead has followed her  dream and became a full time musician.  She studied on the BA Applied Music course at  Strathclyde University and graduated with Honors.   She is as at home in the pit as she is on stage, having played 1st and 2nd piano at many shows throughout Scotland.   On stage before joining Groove Culture wedding band Mairead has sung with world renowned ABBA tribute band ABBAMANIA throughout the UK and Europe.  Performing both as Agnetha and a backing vocalist, something she has taken into Groove Culture as the lead female vocalist and also singing backing vocals when Stephen takes the lead.  Mairead runs Mustang Music School during the week, teaching piano and vocals.  Mustang also offer tuition on drums, guitar, sax, clarinet, accordion and trumpet.  Mairead uses a Roland RD 700NX, a Korg M1, Logic MainStage, Shure Beta 58 ULX  wireless mic system and Shure in ear monitors.

Stephen O'conner- Groove Culture's male vocalist has a musical career now covering three decades.  From writing, recording and producing original material in the early 90's, Stephen progressed into Corporate and Wedding entertainment, entertaining audiences across the whole of the UK.  Stephen also has his own promotions company working with young up and coming artists.  Stephen uses a Shure Beta 58 ULX wireless mic system as well as Shure in ear monitors live.

chrisChris Hardie -   Chris is another multi instrumentalist and graduate from Strathclyde University and the  BA Applied Music course, graduating with honors in 2010.   Chris plays saxophone, keys and sings in Groove Culture but can also play clarinet and flute.  He was lucky enough to be taught by Scottish saxophonist Paul Towndrow in his younger years.   His flare for jazz has been a major influence on his playing and the bands he has played in in the past.  As well as playing with one of Scotland's leading wedding bands every weekend he also plays with the Strathclyde University Big Band when they get together, somewhere else he puts his great improvising skills to use!  Chris thrives on reproducing songs with accuracy, great news for a wedding band and Groove Culture.  He teaches Saxophone, piano and clarinet from his base in Glasgow.  You can find more info on this here.  He uses a Roland Juno DI keyboard and a Shure wireless Beta 98c mic on his sax.

daz webDarren Miller -  Darren is a civil engineer with a passion for music, and particularly the bass guitar.  You'll find him holding down the groove with Groove Culture, something every wedding band needs!  He also provides the lowest harmonies from Groove Culture's five singers!  Darren has over 14 years experience of placing the bass at a high level.  On leaving school he embarked on a UK wide tour supporting his bands debut album playing in venues like Glasgow's SECC.  Darren uses a Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass, Sansamp DI boxes and Shure in ear monitors.
